All Weddin Shire residents and businesses are set to benefit from an extension to the Low Earth Orbiting (LEO) Satellite Internet Subsidy Program. The program supports access to internet coverage via the LEO satellite internet network. Residents may be more familiar with LEO Satellite Internet under its commercial name of Starlink.

Media Release - FINAL CHANCE - Satellite Internet Subsidy

Weddin residents are reminded that the Low Earth Orbiting (LEO) Satellite Internet Subsidy Program is coming to an end on 30 June 2024. The program allows all eligible residents with a LEO satellite internet connection to apply for subsidy, irrespective of when they acquired their internet connection.

Federal Member for Riverina Michael McCormack is asking Riverina and Central West residents and businesses to check devices that use mobile phone networks as the 3G network shutdown looms.
Mr McCormack said Australians were first notified about the network shutdown in November 2019, but residents may not have checked whether their devices need upgrading.

Weddin Shire Council has become aware of an increase in scammers operating in Central West NSW. In particular, Council is aware of a coordinated group of criminals operating in Young NSW, impersonating NBN Co technicians. These criminals are door knocking and charging residents to test their phone and internet and in the process, skimming bank cards.
