Weddin Shire Council is excited to launch a new public art initiative in Grenfell with a large-scale mural on the western wall of the Grenfell Motel. This mural will celebrate the unique identity and vibrant spirit of our community, further positioning Grenfell as a cultural and artistic destination. Funded by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, this project also ties into the upcoming Light Up the Night New Year’s Eve Street Party.

The mural will be officially unveiled during the Light Up the Night event on Tuesday 31 December 2024, bringing the community together to celebrate this meaningful addition to Grenfell’s visual landscape.

  • 4 July 2024 - Community Consultation for Artist Brief Development: Council engaged the community to gather their ideas and themes, helping shape the mural’s initial concept designs. This was followed by a survey that was open for two weeks to allow more members of the community to put forward their ideas. This input helped informed the artist brief to ensure the mural reflects Grenfell’s stories, values, and identity.
