Weddin Shire Council is based in Grenfell which is in the Central West Region of New South Wales within two hours' drive of Orange, Canberra, Wagga Wagga and Dubbo. The Council has a strong service emphasis and is held in high regard by the community. Council supports its strong agricultural base by providing for large-lot residential development and assisting light industrial developments.

Grenfell is the birthplace of Henry Lawson, one of Australia's most famous poets born on Grenfell's gold fields in 1867. With Lawson's love of the land and its people he would go on to capture the spirit of Australian life in his poetry and prose.
Each year Council holds and Open Day where they invite people to our beautiful heritage town to see whether we can assist them to move to Grenfell.
